Canada Geese Nesting at our University

Over at our university, a pair of Canada geese have converted a tulip bed to their nest, during the Easter holidays.

Out of all the places, they have chosen to nest by a fairly busy stairway. Right now it is looking less busy as the students are away on holidays…I wonder what will become of it when the term restarts.

I`ve been told that the geese were originally nesting by the pond but decided to shift after being bullied by another bird.

Right now, the female spends most of her time incubating the eggs, while the male sits watch on the ground. They seem to be sleeping a lot.

I`ve also been told that there are atleast two eggs in the nest.

Occasionally, there is the nest keeping and the preening….the male keeps a close watch on passers by. I`m looking forward to seeing the goslings hatch.
