Today`s spotting - Jay and Long tailed tit.

I was out Cycling cum birdwatching cum digiscope testing today. Its never ideal to be cycle-birdwatching as the world passes you by too quick and thus you miss many a bird. It again gets in the way when I have to follow a bird on foot, as I always have to nervously glance back and see if its still there where I left it. However, my cycle provides me cheap (free) transport to places where I`d struggle to get to without a car and thus I can't leave it behind.
Anyway, it was while pushing my cycle through a park near Blaise castle I saw not one but two Jays at the same time. At the same instant there also appeared a bird of prey flying low in the sky. I had to make a choice and I opted for stalking the jay! I managed to get several pictures but unfortunately I had once again succumbed to the temptation of using the 3x teleconverter from ebay! The pictures are completely ruined with massive amounts of purple fringing..even after a long attemp on photoshop, this is the best I could retrieve:
Seconds later a smaller bird hopped into view and I had the sense to take off the lens and snap a picture. I couldnt identify the bird right away, but looking at the picture on my computer, I recognize it as a Long tailed Tit . I thought it was quite a large size for a long tailed tit.
The difference in the quality of pictures is massive. Anyhow, I`m going to take a resolve not to use that horrid lens anymore!
